Generations of Vegetarianism
In the early 1900’s my great great grandma was the first person in our family to be vegetarian. She didn't believe you needed to kill animals to live a healthy diet. The family history started in Missouri, Illinois, Texas and my family eventually migrated to the west coast. Being vegetarian is a very healthy way to live. The way meat is being processed and the health of the animal is unknown when you are eating, so eating fruits and vegetables is safer in a way. Most people think that you can’t get all of the vitamins and nutrients that you need, but rice and beans make a complete protein and there is a family of nuts and all the fruits and vegetables. GMO foods are also a big deal when it comes to a plant based diet. In the last few years many food allergies and digestive problems have increased. My great great grandma was 102 when she passed away and the rest of my family have lived to at least their 90’s. I am the 6th generation of vegetarianism in my family, so hopefully I live a long happy life just like the rest of my family. Its a choice of living not a tradition, it's a life choice.
