This painting is of my great grandmother on my father's side, Sarah McKinne Stoval. This portrait painted of her was kept in my grandparents's house on long island. My family has multiple portraits like this one of family members,  and this one is the largest. Because of that, when my grandpa passed away and the house he and my grandmother owned had to be sold,  many paintings and items like this one didn't have space in my grandmother's apartment in manhattan. While the important things like smaller paintings could fit, this painting was to big for her space. We took the painting to put up facing our front door in our apartment, and have had it for six years.
