Onion Magnet

A cultural item that holds a deep place in my heart is an onion themed magnet for magnetic fridges, the reason this item is important to me is because it’s been passed down for generations to hold up multiple photos from family members in the past, the photos taken are very personal to me and my family considering how most of them are pictures taken of my ancestors from the past, it has held up many memories of family and bonds between people I consider from my culture. When I was a newborn my parents and other family members would take photos of me, they would take a big picture, and my parents would sign the back and hang it with the same old magnet my past generations have used. They believed the magnet would hold the baby's bond with their parents.

Another important item to my culture is the arts and crafts of El Salvador, since the 1950’s textile production, especially embroidery, are very important. Animals, floral shapes and geometric shapes are often embroidered onto clothes. These traditional skills are passed down from older generations to younger generations. A special place for people.
