Living in Egypt was the awesome thing that I did in my life ,especially when I started to learn more about my culture. My artifact is olla, its made of clay and it looks like a clay jar with a narrow neck. In Egypt we have a very hot summer and in summer people work and students go to school, so olla is located in the streets in front of any store or mosque so people and children can drink water and stay hydrated. Olla was keeping the water cold and clean and allowed some people to use it at home, but not all of the family and my family were not using it at home. Olla it is so important to me because I got it as a gift from my aunt who was dying of cancer and a gift to me on my 15th birthday  and after she died I was so sad but happy that is something that still lives with me.  In 2023 my father decided to come to the United States and then we joined him and  I decided to bring my Olla with me. But then it broke and I was so sad to lose my culture and the only thing from my aunt left behind. Olla I connected to the people because it includes part of my culture that I need to keep in a different culture and it also shows how my Egyptian community is helping each other and how we all are one person/community and that will help us to be stronger. According to XXX, he Egyptian population here in nyc Brooklyn is 0.39% of the population and so I both want to maintain my culture and also be open to learn about other cultures.
