"It only works if you believe in yourself." is my grandfather’s words to my mom when he handed a bottle to her before she walked into a new life, that is, immigrating from Poland to the US to have a better life since communism was occurring during the ‘80s causing citizens actions and beliefs to be equally the same. Which was from my mom’s words “Difficult to function a normal life.” This item is a bottle with wooden dice in a plastic clear bottle. What we use it for is something that most would not expect. One simply shakes the bottle, opens it, and rolls out the dice. These numbers symbolize luck. My grandfather used these dice to play the lottery as a form of "luck". Not only did he use this to play the lottery, but he also proposed an idea of luck to the family. That is, one throws the dice on the table and then each member of my family has to close their eyes and grab dice to get their lucky number for the month. For instance, my lucky number for this month is 1. Spiritually, the number 1 symbolizes a new beginning but is also a symbol of motivation, self-leadership, and intuition. To me, it's fortunate since this month school started and it's the start of my future. A start to a successful future comes with goals and inspirations. My family mindset mainly revolves around luck. Although my grandfather stepped in the US twice after my mother immigrated here and now is our guardian angel from heaven, he passed on a tradition that positions our thoughts to acknowledge and organize our lives and work so we can welcome opportunities to embrace.
