Nie Yun and his restaurant
I heard about my uncle's experience from my father. As far as I knew him, My uncle, Nie Yun, ran a nightclub and karaoke business in China which made a lot of money in this business. In 2007,in order to have better living conditions and a convenient identity. He came to the United States through investment immigration with his wife Jiao Xi and twin sons Glen and Jex. He had no acquaintances in the United States so he started learning English right after arriving. He did not trust the Chinese in Chinatown so he did everything on his own. After nearly a year of hard study, he began chatting with Americans living nearby. From the conversation, he learned that there were few Chinese restaurants in the neighborhood. However, some Chinese ginseng farmers lived in the next block. So he decided to open some Chinese restaurants nearby to make money. He returned to China and found some good Chinese chefs in his hometown. He helped them get visas to come to the United States to work for him and also found some waiters who could speak Chinese and English. After his restaurant opened, business was very good. Many Chinese people who missed the taste of home would go back to eat at his restaurant. Because of the huge profits, he decided to open some Chinese restaurants in nearby cities. In the end he achieved great success. After he successfully took root in the United States, he also helped his family members come to the United States to do business and get education. He has helped our family a lot and we all respect him very much and are moved by him.
