Necklace and a Ring
For my objects I chose my grandmother’s ring and necklace. This necklace has a picture of the Virgin Mary on it and is made out of 24 karat gold and amethyst. The ring has a big blue amethyst and the band is made out of gold. My grandmother immigrated from Iguala, Guerrero in Mexico to Chicago, Illinois in the United States so that she could have a better opportunity for herself, her children, and her grandchildren. This necklace and ring have been in the family for many generations. My grandma wears these items when she goes to church services and dinners. These two items connect to my culture, because it connects to the religion that I believe in since it has an engraving of the Virgin Mary in it. This connects to my identity, because I am Mexican and Catholic. This is an heirloom that will one day be passed on to my generation.
