My family are originally from the Islands of Cape Verde. The first person in my family to arrive in this country was my great-grandfather, he arrived on a fishing boat which took about 14 days at sea. I’m an immigrant myself, I came to the US in 2008 with my brother and sister. Due to my mother leaving for the US before us, my siblings and I had to go to Portugal prior coming to this country. As a child I had happy moments where I played with all the farm animals and helped the older folks plant crops. My family came to the US for a better opportunity financially and better education for their children. We lived in Brockton and grew up there, now here I am today!
