For my family, America is an improvement to their old life in Mexico. Back then, my parents were quite poor and were struggling to make ends meet, and struggled even more when my sister came into the picture. They came (although reluctantly) in 2005 to give my sister a better life, as well as the luxury of an education they never fully recieved. About 17 years later, me and my little sister are also now in school, my sister graduated from Gainesville High School 5 years ago. Even though she wasn't eligible for many scholarships because she isn't an American citizen, she still graduated high school with good marks and is working to in order to earn her degree today. My family won't lie, America is far from a perfect country and has its own problems, my parents have even gone as far as to compare America to the many dangerous parts of their home country. In the end, although they were reluctant, they still feel that they made the right decision coming here, because unlike other- less fortunate areas like Mexico, my family has a chance here, a chance to be better, and a chance to be more.
