My grandmother's book
This is my babushka's book. Her name is Irya Gittelson, and she wrote this book, "From Home," several years ago about her experience living under Stalin in Russia. My grandmother survived multiple tragedies in her youth, her parents were both murdered by Stalin when she was little. She was forced to live in the countryside and survive on little to no food, her family members often had to mix sawdust with the few potatoes they had to make enough food for the family. She was lucky to survive, and now lives in New York with her family.
