My family recipe
A tradition that my family has that is very important to me is, that every December we all get together and make Tamales. This tradition is very important to me because I don't spend a lot of time with my family members in general and when we do our tradition it allows us to come together as a family and spend quality time together. I feel like it's the best tradition because it allows your family to stay somewhat knit together as a whole. It lets us catch up and we aren't only hanging out because of someone's birthday. The way we make them is first we have to soak chicken or whatever meat you want to use in chile over night. Then your get the husk and put masa on it , you make the layer too thick or too thin and you have to spread it out like a circle. Next you put the meat on the masa and roll the husk and then tie it. And lastly you cook them. The way this relates to immigration is by us keeping our heritage and culture alive. My family is very mixed, we have a lot of different cultures but the main is Mexican. With this tradition it let us keep the Mexican heritage alive within the family.
