Antique Chinese Wok
My grandfather had already had been in the United States for quite some time when he decided that he wanted a wife. He contacted his friend in China in order to arrange a marriage. His friend scoured the poor, rural parts of China in search of a potential suitor for my grandfather. Shortly after, he met my soon-to-be grandmother in a place called Canton. My grandmother immigrated to the United States in 1968 and gave birth to my father in 1969. My grandfather was a chef at a restaurant so culinary skills ran in the family. This wok has been passed down for generations and with it came the love of food. Even today, my family still uses the same wok to make delicious fried rice and other Chinese delicacies. My father is a sublime chef and one day I hope to cook as well as him.
