MOLE

By Sherlyn Leon-Enriquez

When we first got the assignment to find an object that represents our country I looked around my house for an object that would represent my country but when I couldn't find an object I went to my mother.  She answered by saying “Yes. In Mexico when we got married we would eat a food called mole that was a brown liquid that had a great taste”.  When my mom told me this I went straight to my notebook and wrote everything down.
I chose this food because it is important in weddings in Mexico and because this is the food my mom mostly misses from her country. The liquid is brown in color and is a little spicy that can be served with red or white rice. The chicken is cooked and covered in mole. Mole is a traditional food in mexico to eat during weddings. You can eat mole with any type of food. Mole has a long recipe but it's worth the time because of its rich and delicious flavor. In Mexico in every wedding we eat Mole as a  traditional food. The food mole is from mexico so everybody there knows it and they can cook for an everyday food or just for a special occasion like weddings.
When my mom first told me about this dish,  I did not see how important it was in Mexico until now I saw how popular it is in my country,.  The recipe was passed down by my Grandma to my mom and someday the recipe will be passed down to me. Hurray!
