In my family we do not have a physical “heirloom” but we do have a spoken one. For four generations, the father of the eldest daughter in my family has called their daughter “the mostest beauty.” This title has been passed down for almost one hundred years. My mother has recently inherited this title from her father, my grandfather, and my father will one day give that title to my sister. When my mother inherited this title, it was a very emotional thing. For her, she was not just being handed down an object or a position, she had become “the mostest beauty.” That is my family heirloom. Although it is not a precious piece of gold or an object, it carries its value in tradition.
