Mis Arracadas
The first time I traveled to Mexico I didn’t just leave full of love, but I left with a new piece of jewelry, earrings. My grandmother insisted she was going to buy me something, even when she couldn’t walk properly she made sure she was there to see which ones I wanted. I chose some small gold hoops, with small diamonds engraved on them. Since that day I didn’t take them off, even from when I left the store until I left the country. I wore them for 4 years without taking them off, unfortunately last year my grandmother passed away. At that time I noticed the earrings were starting to tarnish and they irritated the left side of my ear, ultimately I had to take them off and put new ones in. They aren’t thrown away, or forgotten, they are in my jewelry box and will remain there until I can hopefully get them cleaned and put them back on. I have multiple other jewelry pieces from her but those earrings were always with me. It's unfortunate that the next time I return to Mexico I won’t be embraced by her, but will be greeted with her grave, but I will make sure to wear those earrings once I visit her again.
