The photo I uploaded is one of me this year after a Wind Ensemble Concert. For the 2017-2018 season I auditioned and was chosen to be apart of the Manhattan Wind Ensemble. It was a great honor to be a part of such a wonderful group. Music has always had a place in my family. Both of my parents grew up singing and playing instruments in the West Indies and continued after the migrated to the United States. Growing up, I too have fallen in love with music and it makes them so proud that I have chose to continue my musical education post high school. My parents wished they could pursue music as more than a hobby, but most of their time is consumed by their careers here in the United States. The harsh realities of making a living in this country is that many times you have to sacrifice what you love to make a living.I feel blessed to have a golden opportunity to do both as a first generation born citizen of this country.
