This image represents the migration of my self and my mom. I was born in Michoacan, Mexico and came into the United States at the age of 4-5. In this picture I was celebrating my last birthday in my home country with my mom next to me. My dad who was born in Texas was absent from a huge chunk of my early childhood which was due to him working in the United States to provide for us. He then petitioned to get my mom and I our permenant U.S  residency but along the way we had complications which resulted  in mine taking a little longer than my moms. At that point we had no choice so we risked it and I crossed with someone else's birth certificate. As years later went by my dad has always emphasized how important it is to "estudiar" which translates to study. When I was in high school I became a U.S citizen through my dad as he wanted me to pursue my education and set a good example for my siblings. Now that im soon to be 23 years old, I look back and realize how much my parents have gone to give my siblings and I a better life. From them bending their backs for over 10 years in agriculture through rain or shine and so much more I am a proud immigrant daughter.
