Menudo is an important food in my family. We cook it when it's cold, rainy, or any
  • important events. It symbolizes a family tradition and... The meat of menudo comes in different shapes and textures. With menudo, you bring out a big ol pot. You also have to bring out a medium sized pot to boil the peppers and onions and dry chile. It usually takes 2-3 hours. We make menudo for Christmas parties. Last time we ate it was last month. Sometimes my mom just feels like making, so she makes it.Usually, my mother is in charge of making it, but help her out here and there. Mostly by keeping an eye on it. You typically eat Menudo with tortillas, jalapenos, onion, and oregano, and add a little lime. It's also made with a red sauce. My mother is from Durango and she got her recipe from her great grandmother. This dish means a lot because it's been a tradition that's been passed down for many years. It has traveled from Durango, Mexico to Austin, Texas. It represents family traditions.
