Memories of my Birthday
My name is Galo Daquilema. I am from Ecuador. I came to NYC on September 5, 1999. I am a student at the ESOL immigrant service program at the Sunnyside Community Services. On Sunday, September 9 of 2001, I visited the Twin-Towers in downtown Manhattan, because I wanted to get to know the Twin-Towers better. When I was there, I was impressed by how beautiful they were. In the morning, I visited the Statue of Liberty and then visited the Twin-Towers in the afternoon. One day, it was my birthday, so I decided to visit some landmarks. I will never forget the day I visited the Twin Towers. Two days later, the saddest thing happened. Early in the morning, both Towers were attacked by terrorists that hijacked planes. I couldn’t believe that such a beautiful Towers were attacked. I was one of the lucky people to visit the Twin- Towers before the collapsed. I will always remember my birthday before the sad attack of 9/11.
