My object is the Maher family crest. It symbolizes that “Maher,” my last name, comes from Ireland. My entire dad's side of the family is Irish. My great-great-grandparents came from Ireland a long time ago on a boat. They were farmers. They had farms in Highland Falls, New York. My great-grandmother also had a one room schoolhouse in Highland Falls and taught students there. They lived like this for sometime until they were forced to move to Fort Montgomery, because West Point took their land to establish the West Point as we know today.
