Laam(metal bracelet)
Ever since I was I was given a (laam) which is a wolof word for metal bracelet. My parents and my grandparents gave me this metal bracelet as a way for me to always remember who I am and where I came from, and that they will always be next to me. A few years goes by I immigrated to america with my parents and siblings which separated me from my grandparents. I was very upset throughout the whole trip here because my grandparents raised me, but then i remembered that the bracelet would always remind me of home and my grandparents whenever i looked at it. The reason why that this object is very important to me and my culture is that it signifies coming together and being with your family for infinity. That is why the bracelet is made of gold and silver because, they are both very valuable and expensive pieces of metal just like how valuable and priceless family is you can never replace them no matter what. Even though I missed my grandparents I know they will always be with me wherever I go because the bracelet is a constant reminder of them.
