La Machuca(Comida Garifuna )
My tradition is Machuca, which is a meal made from plantains and coconuts and shellfish. It is a Honduran meal found only in Garífuna towns such as Tornabé, San Juan, Triunfo de la Cruz, Corozal or others whole family is connected to it, we do it more for typical days like, African heritage month, or the arrival of the Garifuna or others, it identifies with my culture and the Garifuna race is something that is important to me because it represents my culture and represents me as a Garifuna. Machuca is a traditional dish from the municipality of Livingston, in the department of Izabal. It is considered a Caribbean delicacy of Garifuna culture. This recipe is also known as coconut soup and its delicious flavor is exquisite on the palate. Preparation…..Place the ripe and green bananas in a pot and simmer them. Once soft, we remove them from the saucepan and put them in a mortar (kitchenware to crush ingredients).
We start crushing the bananas until it is pureed. Then we add salt, pepper to taste and a touch of Milk with SULA Fiber so that it has a better texture and flavor.
We finish with a little SULA aged Pecorino Cheese and decorate with coriander leaves.
