This game is called Kniffel. It is a game that originated in Germany and is avidly played there for many years now. It is very similar to a game called Yahtzee. The point of the game is to try and get as many points as possible in 13 rounds and trying to get certain things that are on the Gewinnkarte (Play sheet). Each round you roll the dice 3 times and in those 3 times your goal is to achieve certain things on the Gewinnkarte.But also during those 3 rolls you are able to set certain numbers/dice to the side depending on what you are aiming for on the Gewinnkarte. The biggest thing you can achieve playing Kniffel, is Kniffel! Kniffel happens when you do your 3 rolls or less and you end up with all 5 of the dice being the same number, which earns you 50 points!
The reason for this being so important to me is because it is a game I play with my Grandma and my family when I am in Germany. This makes it so important because I rarely get to see my Grandma but when I do, we always play Kniffel because it helps us bond and have fun moments. It also always ends up getting really competitive which is what allows it to have all of its amazing moments. So whenever I am playing Kniffel back here in America with my family I always think about her because she is the one that brought along Kniffel to me and my family and it allows me to remember all of the amazing moments I have in Germany!
