kimono
The kimono was a gift from my grandmother for my 16th birthday. This is just one of the many gifts i have received that represents my heritage. My great grandmother was japanese. Chieko suzuki, Born in 1932, in formosa japan, know known taiwan and a territory of the republic of china. On december 20th, 1951, she married a US army servicemen.she left the homeland, family and security. At the time she didn't know that she would never see her mother again. She took the name Mary Elizabeth Corbin. She lived 62 years in american and died in fayetteville NC. thanks to her sacrifice, 5 generations , 54 descendants, are able to live their life here in america. It is people like my great grandmother that make the american dream come true, and we are all thankful for it.
