Kanafeh
Kanafeh is made with cheese pastry soaked in sweet, sugar-based syrup. This dessert is popular throughout the Arab world, Palestine, Turkey and many more. My family is from the Middle-east and this dessert has been passed down for generations. Every holiday we look forward to having this amazing dessert that only our grandmothers can perfect. When I was younger, my grandmother would invite all the grandchildren over and we would make kanafeh, but she would never tell us her secret ingredient, part of the recipe that she brought back when she came to America. Food is a big part of culture because it brings people together. The times that were around the dinner table are when we talk the most and sharing a love and a history with a certain food is a big way in which my family came together.
