Journeying To America
Ydida is from El Salvador. She brought a passport. The object is used for traveling. The passport is a small book with papers in it and has information on the person using the passport, in this case Ydida. Ydida used the passport to travel here when she first came America. Ydida came to this country because she was tired of her country, by tried I mean she didn't like how her country was, she wanted to start over and feel reborn again. So Ydida was pulled to this country. This object is important because without them Ydida wouldn't be able to come to this country. Ydida’s experience tells us that not all immigrants have a hard time in the U.S. People assume all immigrants have a hard time because they think all immigrants go to a new country for the same reason. But they don’t every immigrant goes to a new country for different reasons. If people don’t realize people have different stories then they could judge them for reasons that aren’t even true, or pity them for no reason. This story is important to share so that immigrants aren't afraid to come to this country. Her experience represents what it means to be American because America is a country made up of immigrants, no one was originally from this country except native Americans. That’s why every immigrant's story is important and the reason everybody is American.
