My grandmother and mom on the carousel

These are a series of photos of my mom, grandmother, and myself on Jane’s Carousel in Dumbo Brooklyn. Not only does it show three generations of women in my family looking fabulous, but it also illustrates the full circle of my family’s im/migration in the United States. Jane’s Carousel was created in 1928 and originally resided in Youngstown, Ohio very near where my Grandmother’s ancestors settled after emigrating from Wales in the mid-1800s. My Grandmother remembers very fondly enjoying the carousel with her mother and grandmother. So imagine my surprise after my own migration to New York several generations later to come face to face with remarkable landmark from home! Even more memorable was the chance to share this moment with my grandmother and mother and see our stories separated by history and migration come full circle.
