In July of 2019 I got my dog, Chimborazo or Chimbo for short. This may seem like a strange and long name for a dog as most people lean towards shorter names like Max or Bella, but my dog's name has a story. When we were preparing to get him I couldn't find a name that fit; nothing seemed right. The day we got him, my grandparent's from my mom's side come to visit, so I asked them for assistance. Both of my grandparents were born and raised in Ecuador only moving to the United States after they had a family to chase the American dream. I asked my grandfather what to name him and his eyes lit up. He told me about one of the proudest and highest landmarks in Ecuador, Chimborazo Mountain. Although it is not taller than Mount Everest, the very top of the mountain is considered the closest point in the world to the sun. I was honored to name him after such an important thing in my grandparent's lives as they never had the opportunity of naming a pet.
