Janamaz
My object is called “Janamaz.”(pronounced Ji[High I]Na-maaz) In my culture/religion(Islam) it is used to pray to god. In our culture we pray to Allah. My object dates back to the 15th century. We use it 5 times a day to perform 5 different types of prayers.
The Quran comes with a lot of information about this world and we use the Janamaz(prayer mat) to thank God for everything we have. Before we eat, we say “Bismillah” which means “in the name of Allah” in Arabic.
The Janamaz shows our gratefulness to the world around us and everything we have. We pray to get rid of our sins and thank god. Each prayer is due at a certain time. One cannot do all five prayers all at once. Everyday, the prayer time changes so there are certain calendars that tell the time to do prayers. The times are based off of the time of sunset in a day.
The Janamaz is important to me because I am a muslim and the Janamaz is one of the things that represent my religion and me as an individual. The Janamaz reminds me of the tough journey of getting into America. My Janamaz is green and gold and has many designs that are symmetrical.
The Janamaz is an essential item to all Muslims around the globe. The Janamaz is important because it lets us pray to god and give god credit for everything god gave us.
