I have been living in the USA for about 8 years. I immigrated when I was 9 years old, the beginning of my new life had been really tough. The object that means a lot to me is this jade. This is the only object that I have kept all along, I received this from my uncle on the day I left China. In Chinese cultures, people believe that Jade is auspicious and it can bring luck and dispel the bad things. I did not speak or understand English when I first came here, it was tough for me to break through the language barrier. However, I accumulated knowledge over time and my English was improved. I somewhat believed that this Jade has been blessing me.
