Inexhaustible Chalice
My great grandmother was a very religious woman, when she sadly died, she gave the icon of inexhaustible chalice to my grandmother. This is an old and small clay rectangle in glazed with the Virgin Mary, enshrined with baby Jesus in a chalice. My Grandmother kept it to herself for more than 15 years. Before she passed away, she gave it to my mother, who had a very risky situation in her life, she got a dangerous trauma which needed an operation. The day of operation she didn’t count on doctors but prayed to the icon of inexhaustible cup. In a week my mother was saved but this turned her life upside down. Over the years the icon became a central part of our family, when I become an adult, my mom will pass this icon to me. I am an atheist and believe only in science. The connection to this religious icon is not that of faith, but of family. Because it belonged to my grandmother, and was passed down to my mother, it is important to me. I love my family. They are loving, supportive, and caring. I am very thankful to have them in my life. I hope that when I get older, I become a mother myself and can pass this down to my children, creating a legacy for my family.
