Jade
Growing up, I've always wanted a Jade necklace. They looked cool and a lot of kids at school had them. In my 5 year old mind, it was about style, in my family's perspective, it was an accessory that kept us safe. My family are Taoists. Taoism and Buddhism ultimately have similar beliefs but Taoism was originated in China while Buddhism originated in India. In Chinese culture the Jade is considered good luck, and by wearing it, you're protected and supported by healing energy. I begged my parents for a Jade even though I didn't understand their religious beliefs and the meaning behind a Jade.
