My grandma moved to America while she was in her twenties. She had support from her mother so she could have a better life. When she moved to America she had a hard time, she had to learn English for 3 years and she still sometimes struggles with it. My grandmother wanted to represent her home country so she decorated her house full of things from Panama. Whenever me and my brother go to her house she always makes us food that her mother taught her to make, she calls it a family tradition for when we come and visit.

My grandma went to medical school so she could become a nurse. When she finished she got the job and still works at the hospital now. She likes doing her job but she says it’s sometimes stressful. My grandma loves America but she misses home a lot, so she sometimes flies back to Panama to stay with her mother. They go out visiting family and having parties. She’d video call me and my brother so we can talk to everyone and say hi.

My grandma says that moving to America was the best decision she made. She’s happy with her life and where she’s made it since she’s moved. My grandma makes sure that she never forgets where she came. She goes to the Hispanic day parade and has parties to represent her and her family. She also has a bunch of pictures and posters in her house of things from her home country. My grandma loved the Hispanic day parade she makes sure to go every year and she even brings me and my brother; it’s a tradition that we do every year.
