Hard Hat
This hard hat is my dad’s, and it represents how hard he has worked in construction to give us a better life even before he came legally to the United States of America. He had started to work in construction at the age of 12 when he was in Mexico and he still continues to work in construction to this day. He has been working in construction for over 25 years and he might do so until he retires. The reason he works so hard in construction is to give us more opportunities to have a better life than what he had. He gives us a place to sleep with a roof over our heads, brings food to the table, buys us clothes, and wants the best for us. He gives us all those things and he never asks for anything in return except for us to work hard to have a better life than him. He goes to work at 5 o’clock in the morning and comes back at 6 or 7 o’clock in the afternoon Monday through Friday and sometimes Saturday. By the time he comes from work he just takes a shower, eats, cleans up the house and then go to sleep until it is time to go work. These are the sacrifices he makes in order to make sure we have everything we need and to have the best chance for a better life. That is why his hard hat represent to me how much hard work he has put in construction to give us a better life.
