Hanukkiah
My object is a Hanukkiah. A Hanukkiah is an object from Israel that is used to hold the candles that are light each night during Hanukah. My mom’s side is Jewish and our entire family celebrates Jewish traditions, one of them being Hanukkah. Hanukkah is one of the biggest Jewish holidays and my family celebrates it every year. Lighting the candles is something you do every night during Hanukkah no matter the year. The object symbolizes Judaism. I love Hanukkah so when I see the Hanukkiah come out for the first time in the year, I get super excited. I have had many memories with the Hanukkiah. One example is the time where I got surprised with a gift I had been asking for, for months. My religion is a big part of me and my family. For as long as I can remember my family has used the same Hanukkiah. My mom and grandma really helped me embrace my Judaism, so whenever I think of the Jewish religion, I think of them. When I got to light the Hanukkiah for the first time I took the next step with my Jewish culture. Even after my bar mitzvah, I know Judaism and the Hanukkiah will be a part of my future.
