My object is a hand fan, and its from Puerto Rico. I use this object when it's hot outside to keep me cool. This hand fan is made out of silk bamboo and feathers, surprising right ? The fan is a little white with gold stripes on the white part. The soft part of the hand fan has a guy playing guitar with a woman listening. The colors of the fan really make the fan standout.        I chose this object because it reminds me of my  great-great-grandmother. This hand fan reminds me of her because she immigrated from Spain to Puerto Rico and then to America. I still have family members in Puerto Rico, but I don’t visit them a lot. Do you have any family members in your own country whom you seldom visit? It is tough, right?                     In my country we speak Spanish and everyone who lives in Puerto Rico speak Spanish.  If you go to Puerto Rico not knowing how to speak spanish you probably will not understand what people are saying.  My great-great-grandmother moved from Spain   because all the Catholics wanted all Jews to convert to Christianity. So my great-great-grandmother moved to Puerto Rico to escape persecution and to be safe.   One hardship my great - great - grandmother experienced is she had to change her last name from Rivero to Rivera. She did not want to end up being captured and face the Spanish Inquisition.
