Guardian Angel Doll
My object is a guardian angel doll with the intention of watching over the individual who has it within their possession. This tradition first began with my great-grandmother on my mom’s side of the family. Around the 1980s, my great-grandmother got this angel, and a few years later, she passed it down to my grandma when she got her license to protect her on the road and watch over her. This continued with my mother, who got it once she got her licence, and the same to me when I got my license. The ideals of safety and security are very important values to Americans. Therefore, the idea of this guardian angel being there to protect the individual in possession of the angel and their family by passing down the guardian angel to future generations in their family line. The guardian angel can also reflect our belief in the religion of Christianity by trusting in the guardian angel to watch over and protect us as we go through life, especially when the angel is right with us. The association of an angel being with us can connect us to God and showcase how we trust in him to send someone to watch over us and keep us safe in certain situations. These situations could be something like driving, going somewhere, or really anywhere else we decide to go. Bringing this angel with me, especially while driving, puts me more at ease and allows me to go somewhere feeling safe and secure. I would love to continue the tradition with my children by giving them the angel to watch over them when they start to drive. The guardian angel can hopefully make them feel safer on the roads as well.
