This is the Groce Family Bible on my maternal grandmother’s side. It belonged to my great great great grandmother Sarah Groce. Her grandparents moved to Yadkinville, NC from Scotland.  They picked NC to settle in due to it being very religious which was very important to them. They then started their own tobacco farm due to it being very popular at the time. They worked on the farm until they no longer could and it was passed now to Sarah’s parents and then her. Her grandparents taught Sarah about religion and told her how amazing religion was as well as its importance. During this time they would always go to church every sunday and would not work on the farm at all that day.Sarah fell in love with church and christianity due to her grandmother and parents. So at 15 in 1905 Sarah bought with the very little money she had her own bible and  she cherished it. She continued to spread her love of religion to her kids and grandkids. Sarah gave the bible to her son and that same bible has continued to be saved by the family going through generations to honor her and the love for  religion in my family. It connects to my family identity because even now my family is still quite religious and it is carried through every family member.
