Great-Great-Grandma's Doll
This is an anniversary gift my great-great-grandfather gave to my great-great-grandmother in the 1950’s. It is a small doll placed on a small circular plastic piece. Her face and skin are painted and the dress is made of cloth, though they are worn now. The doll is made with some sort of hard plastic, and her clothes are a rough fabric. I first learned about the doll when I asked my grandma if we had any family items passed down. She showed me a big cabinet full of old items I never knew we had. I chose the doll because after my grandma explained its meaning, I thought it was pretty cool and heartwarming that we still had it. It displays the love they shared and I am proud to be a part of such a loving family. My great-great-grandparents passed away when I was around eight, so I don't remember a lot about them, but we had five generations living at the same time before that. There is a picture of all of us together before they passed away. One lesson I think this story can teach us is that genuine love can last a lifetime. My grandpa bought my grandma this doll on their one year anniversary, and they were married for over 60 years. The doll proves love, memories, and family history can last generations, teaching us what matters most.
