This is Ovid, and he is my Grandmother's grandfather. He was born into a native american tribe the Abernaki's in St. Croix, Canada. Their reservation was destroyed after white settlers decided to steal the land. They gave the tribe blankets to deal with the cold. In reality, they purposely gave them blankets infected with smallpox. Only he and one other child survived. He and the other child were adopted into a white family in northern vermont, and he was raised there. He found a wife and had a few kids with her, but she died young. He then remarried a woman from Montreal, and ended up having 13 kids with her! One of them ended up being my great grandmother.
