Great-Grandmother on Broadway
This is a picture of my Great-Grandmother dancing on Broadway in New York City in the 1930s. Her mother and father immigrated from Italy through Ellis Island to New York City in the early 1900s. My Great-Grandmother was born in New York City and her family eventually moved to a small town in Pennsylvania. After she graduated high school, she decided to return to New York City and become a Broadway dancer. Her parents were very proud to become American citizens. My Great-Grandmother helped her daughter raise my mom, we have many pictures and antiques that belonged to my Great-Grandmother, and my Great-Great-Grandparents in our house. Even though my Great-Grandmother passed away before I was born, the stories and mementos from her life make me feel like I knew her.
