This is a picture of my maternal grandmother. It is the only thing that my mother brought with her from Honduras when she decided to immigrate to the United States. This picture kept her alive because my mother got so homesick that she ended up in the hospital. This picture gave her hope and the reassurance that she did the right thing; leaving her family behind. She knew that she would be of better help here and sending my grandmother money in order to survive in Honduras.
