Grandmother's Ring
My object, my grandmother's ring, tells a story about my grandmother's journey. One way this ring tells a story about my grandmother's journey is her unity with my grandfather. This ring represents their love and struggles together. There were many years she had to be seperated from my grandfather, due to the fact that my grandfather came first to New York to my mother and some of her sisters, so when my grandmother came, he knew they had a stable living condition and money to live off of. This ring tells a story about my grandmother's journey because it was a completely different environment for her to adapt to, but with the support from my grandfather, my mother, and my aunts, she eventually learned to love New York and the many different things she learned here. Even though my grandparents weren't lawly married in the Dominican Republic, once my grandmother came to New York, they had the oppurtunity to get married here. To conclude, these are some ways on how my object, my grandmother's ring, tells a story about my grandmother's journey to a new environment and life. And hopefully, she'll pass on the ring to one of us, her grandchildren.
