Grandma’s Charm Bracelet
My grandmothers bracelet is a special piece of jewelry that’s been close to her since she was 16. It was given as a Christmas present, along with the charm with Santa in the chimney, by her sister and so have the rest of the charms (the rest were given for her birthday). The tree of life, wish bone and 4 leaf clover (which also represents our Irish side) are all good luck charms. The ring on the gold plate individually was given as a birthday present, but because the ring was dainty Grandma had it made into a charm. The Bible charm has the first prayer said in church/ what you’re supposed to say when you wake up and go to sleep (The Lord’s Prayer), since my grandmother was raised catholic. The cathedral was where my grandmother wanted to get married (Saint Patrick’s Cathedral). The anchor, cross and heart were given just because, no particular reason. The hammer went along with a box and in the box was a dollar bill, since my grandmother believed you should always have a dollar on you so you’re never broke (something called mad money). But one day somebody decided to steal from my grandmother and stupidly decided to take the dollar instead of the bracelet that was worth much more. Any pearls and charms are from the fact that my grandmother loves pearls and any amethyst are because it’s my grandmothers birthstone (any other gems don’t have particular meaning and may have fallen out over the years). I felt honored to have such an important piece of my important grandmother.
