i can still remember my granddaddy, sitting in his old recliner, listening to me recount all of my stories. from gymnastics competitions, to schoolwork. all that time i never realized, i rarely heard any of his stories. now today, 5 years after he went to be with the Lord, i sat down with my mom asking about her dad. and she showed me this picture of him, standing next to a tank in his military uniform. she told me how he was in germany serving our country, and of his bravery. his service in the army will always be what i think of when someone says american ideals. he represented love, strength and courage. although i can’t sit down beside his old recliner and ask him about these stories first hand, i will make sure they get passed down to keep his memory alive. every veterans day i will remember everything he did for me and this country, and honor his name.
