Graduation Cap
My parents graduated from college in the late 1980's and in 1987, together, moved from the small town of Cross Lanes, West Virginia to start a new life together in Charlotte, North Carolina. They used their newly acquired education and degrees to establish themselves among a new community within a new region of the United States. Their achievement of graduating was the jumping off point from which they began a new life in which their children would have a more diverse upbringing with many more opportunities to succeed.
In 2016, I graduated with a B.A. in History and used that achievement to move to and attend graduate school at St. John's in Queens, New York. I graduate in three days with an M.A. in Public History and will continue to follow my parents lead and use my education to propel me forward in to new arenas of life and provide myself with new opportunities.
