Governor's Island in New York is important to my family. When my mom migrated from Panama City, Panama, she lived with my Grand-Aunt who once had a job working in a factory building on Governor's Island. My Aunt had this factory job for many years and if was also rough for her because she had to care for my mom during her childhood and teenage years and my mom often had to come to work all the way on the Governor's Island ferry with my aunt everyday. So, Governor's Island has a part of history in my family for the most part and it is something I will never forget and will tell my future children about.
