Golden Chain Cross
When my mom decided to migrate to the United States, my grandmother gave her a cross gold chain that she could pray to God day and night on her way here. She came here because she wanted a better life and wanted to have better opportunities in her life to help her family in Mexico. The cross is really important and is really meaningful because it's something that helped my mom get here, something that my mom relies on mostly every day because it was a memory that my grandmother gave her before she passed out. The number one religion Hispanic usually is Catholic. My object is a gold cross medallion chain with baby Jesus which was blessed and passed down. At home, my mom has it in a special place that’s called the altar. In the altar, we have the statue of the Virgin of Guadalupe and around her, we have the cross with some flowers and the picture of my grandmother who passed almost 4 years ago. This reminds me when my dad gave me a golden chain of the Virgin of Guadalupe when I went through a surgery when I was only 9 years old. In our country, we pray to our lady Virgin of Guadalupe when people go through things that they need help, my dad talks to her and prays to her. This makes my family feel closer to God and more religious.
