The ring is gold with a crystal heart.

The object that I chose was my grandmother's ring. The ring is made of gold, diamonds and amethyst, and I wear it around my finger everyday. When I was born my grandmother, who lives on the East Coast, sent my parents this ring with a note that said give this to her on her 16th birthday. I’m not the only person who connects with this ring, It’s also one of the only things my dad has left of her, since he moved to California when he was 17 years old. My dad would go back to visit her for her birthday every year. This ring connects to my identity because, recently when I thought about the ring it occurred to me that if I have a daughter I want to give this to her when she turns 16 to carry on the legacy of grandmother and how much she meant to me. My grandmother lived in Connecticut in the United States.  This ring is extremely important to me because it's a piece of my grandmother that I would have never thought I would have, when I was talking to my family about the ring my mom told me that she speculates that my grandmother knew that she wasn’t going to make it to my 16th birthday, because she was very sick, and died only a few years after I was born, but now I have a piece of her to carry with me wherever I go.
