I came to the United States when I was four years old. My parents wanted to come here to have a better life and for me and my sisters to have a better life. When I got here, I went to a school that I didn't know. I couldn't speak the language, I didn't know how to write the language, and I didn't understand it. When I went to school and felt nervous/lonely I just hold on to my necklace and it reminded me of my family and home country. Luckily I made friends that spoke Spanish and helped me read, write, and speak English.
